When Roof Hail Damage Happens, Here’s What To Do

Hail storms are one of the most serious threats of a homeowner.  Hail stones are actually hard ice which fall rapidly from the sky. The acceleration and speed that it posses when it falls result in a great impact on the roof. Just imagine ice particles as large as 5 inches falling down on the roof,  the damage that it can bring is extreme.  When you check your roof, you might see that there will be holes and dents on it. After this has happened, you  need to address the problem of roof hail damage immediately.

Initially, you have to check for the damage done by the hail stones. Look inside and identify any water stains  on the roof and the walls. If so, then these hail stones have penetrated your roof already. This might escalate and contribute to permanent damage on your roof. This must be followed by an inspection on the outer roof to see if there are any dents or hole s that have formed.

Once you have seen that hail damage has been done on your roof, you may take contact your roofing contractors to provide a solution to this problem. They will do their own inspections and will give you an estimated repair for these. Not only should they be able to solve the roof hail damage but also  provide a way to prevent it from happening again.

Some materials which you might consider are inner linings for fiberglass so the roof shingles will be more resistant to the impact that results from the falling hail stones. Roofing materials which are recommended include gravel and rubber. Gravel is a very sturdy material that is very resistant to hail storms and will not crack as it is harder than hail. Plus, this material is very cheap.  Rubber is also a very good choice to line the roof with because it is made with resilient material. It just needs to be tightly screwed to the roof so it will not be detached easily.

Hail storms are natural occurrences that we cannot avoid. When this happens and you find that there is damage done to your roof, you must be alert and do the inspection first. Once you have agreed on the type of repair or replacement, t will be a lot easier. Just remember that you should have a preventive solution to this problem. You will not have to worry about this the next time that it happens.
