Roofing Estimates: Know if they are accurate

Before you take the plunge and sign a contract with a roofing contractor, roofing estimates are going to be required. If you have a big roof damage, a roof repair estimate may be less than what you really need. Before you put up your roof for repair or hire a contractor, make sure that the damage is not to a point that you would need a replacement roof. Do not go out and step on your roof if you feel that the rafters may be already weak or rotten because of water leaks. If you attempt to go out on your roof, wear flat soled shoes to prevent more damage. If your roof has asphalt shingles, metal roof, tile shingles, or a slate roof, it is better to get a professional or a roof specialist to assess if you need repair or a replacement for your roof. An experienced contractor can give you the roof estimates promptly and they are happy to help you.

It may depend on who you ask, but the advice to get “three free roof repair estimates” may not be enough. A contractor’s time is also valuable and if you want to get the best price, it does not always mean that you get the best service for the price. Ask around especially your neighbors who they used for their roof repairs. Ask your family and friends too. Calling around to obtain those free quotes and estimates may run the risk of making your contractor overly busy and giving you a mediocre job or to someone else. You can also call the Better Business Bureau. Go and do your own research, but avoid getting too much free roof repair estimates from many contractors because it may end up giving you unwanted results. Getting referrals is much more advisable.
